UV Light Fluorescent Calcite

This very fluorescent mineral specimen was found in Franklin, New Jersey.  When exposed to shortwave ultraviolet light it turns a reddish-orange (calcite areas).  The green specks are willemite.

UV Fluorescent Calcite from Illinois

This is a nice piece of calcite that is almost cabinet size.  It has fluorescent activated sections almost entirely around the mineral when exposed to longwave ultraviolet (UV) light.

Orange Calcite

New Jersey Calcite

Calcite Crystals

Calcite specimen was at the Ben E. Clement Mineral Museum display at the KYANA Geological Society 2010 Show in Louisville, Kentucky.  It might be mixed in with some purple fluorite.

Calcite - Jennings County Indiana

Calcite is the most common mineral found in the state of Indiana. It calcium carbonite that makes up calcite is the primary material of the state's limestone.

Honey Colored Dogtooth Calcite

Honey colored dogtooth calcite crystals that form in clam shell fossils. These specimens were found in Okeechobee County, Florida.
